The door into the famous Universidad de Salamanca is a necessary stop for anyone visiting the city. I don't know why, but the tradition is that if you find the frog on the ornately decorated facade over the door, it is good luck. (I won't spoil it for you.) Really, everyone stops to do this. Instead of facing the building, this time I watched the tourist and had the MOST fun photographing them. No one noticed me; everyone looked so earnest and hopeful; and everyone was anxious to point out the frog to their neighbor. I love that this man and finally his neighbor are both trying to help the below lady find the frog and she just isn't seeing it. Did I find it? I finally turned around and Alex pointed it out for me.

that is some magical frog. I love the guy helping out the lady. Do you celebrate halloween over there? We are making all sorts of costume preparations here and really looking forward to it. Lily declared it is her favorite holiday (even above Christmas!) take care.
Hi Michelle, Dave, and kids--I'm finally checking out your blog--oh looking at those pictures, I am just reliving our trip!! Wish we were there with you guys! Have fun! Love,Ramona
Stephanie, More than Christmas? Wow! You must really do it up right. Yes, they do Halloween here, but so much as there. Simon is bummed because we are going to be headed to Andalucia at the time. Any ideas about how we can celebrate on a bus, at a cathedral and a hotel??
Ramona, I wish you guys were here too! I need to email Chris. We tried to find his cousin, but had no luck.

What about dressing them up and yourself too. How about a Halloween scavenger hunt on the train and in the hotel, etc.? I don't know, or you could just let them go up to strangers and say trick or treat or whatever the spanish or basque phrase is and see what they come up with. Of course my kids would never do that! Have a great trip! Love keeping in touch over the blog.
Nathan says "I wonder what would happen if you started pointing the other way. Would everyone try to find what you are pointing at? Do those people speak english? Cause if they didn't you could speak english and say what you are pointing at and they wouldn't know what it is."
Nathan, What a funny, clever idea!
I wish that I would have thought of that.
